The National Youth Commission (NYC) spearheads the simultaneous celebration of the International Youth Day (IYD) on Aug. 12, 2017 as declared by the United Nations with the Theme: "Youth Building Peace", the IYD celebration with the observance of the "Linggo ng Kabataan" as mandated by the SK Reform Act of 2015.
Leading the celebration in Luzon is Asec. Paul Pangilinan, head of the NYC Committee on Global Mobility, with Asec. Percival Cendaña and the City Government of Muntinlupa, Usec. Aiza Seguerra, NYC Chairperson and CEO will celebrate IYD in Mindanao, with Asec. James Ventura, together with the United Nations Children's Fund, the Office oon Bangsamoro Youth of ARMM and the City Government of Iligan. Asec. Rhea Peñaflor will be in Iloilo City for the IYD celebration in Visayas in cooperation with the Iloilo City Government.
The IYD in Luzon held at Ayala Malls South Park in Alabang Muntinlupa City will highlights the participation of Secretary Dionisio Santiago of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB), Director General Harold Clavite of Philippine Information Agency, represented by Dir. Riza Baldoria, NCR Director of PIA and a video message from the UN Special Envoy on Youth, Her Excellency Jayathma Wickramanayake.
Various youth groups will render dance and musical performance to entertain the youth participants who joins the IYD 2017 Celebration.
